Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Anyone can save the galaxy once – but twice?
DIRECTOR James Gunn
STARRING Chris Pratt,

Peter Quill’s got daddy
issues in this fast,
furious and very funny
sequel to James Gunn’s 2014
sci-fi smash-hit Guardians of
the Galaxy. That film ended
with Chris Pratt’s Quill – also
known as Star-Lord (to a few,
mostly himself) – opening a
present from his late, much-
missed mother: a cassette tape
of songs entitled ‘Awesome Mix
Vol. 2’, before blasting off with
his fellow Guardians: Gamora,
Drax the Destroyer, Rocket
Raccoon and Baby Groot.
This laugh-out-loud follow-
up (which gets its subtitle from
the aforementioned mixtape)
continues the exploits of the

Peter Quill’s customised
M-ship The Milano is
named after his
boyhood crush, Alyssa
Milano, star of the
hit 1980s TV series
Who’s The Boss? (and
others). The Milano was
given to Star-Lord by
his abductors, the
Ravagers, and prior
to becoming
a galaxy-saving
Guardian he used it
for looting and piracy
(the naughty boy!).
rag-tag crew as they traverse
the universe looking for
mischief and adventure.
They find it in the shape of
Star-Lord’s father Ego, who,
in the comics, is an actual
living planet. Here, though, he’s
in humanoid form (presumably
to save a bit of cash!), played by
the still-dashing Kurt Russell.
Vol. 2 also sees some cool
new members joining the gang:
Gamora’s sis, Nebula, insectoid
empath Mantis and rejected
Ravager Yondu. There’s also an
awesome new foe in Elizabeth
Debicki’s genetically enhanced,
all-gold high priestess, Ayesha.
A wonderfully inventive
sci-fi actioner with more than
a few twists in its tale, plus
a soundtrack to die for. Expect
it to be blooming massive!
