F orget everything you think you know . That ’ s the message coming through loud and clear from the makers of Transformers : The Last Knight . The fifth film in this fast , furious and mind-bogglingly fun franchise is set to turn all the stuff we ’ ve learnt about the robots-in-disguise on its head . Villains will become heroes , heroes will become villains . And the secret history of Transformers on Earth – a secret that has laid buried for hundreds of years – will finally be revealed .
Intrigued ? By golly so are we . But , in fairness , we ’ ve been pretty excited about this one for a while now . Ever since we found out that it ’ s the final chapter in the Transformers saga . Or , at least , Michael Bay ’ s final chapter . The director behind every Transformers movie to date , is ‘ apparently ’ hanging up his hat with The Last Knight . But don ’ t worry , he ’ s promised to go out with a bang . Which , given this is Michael Bay we ’ re talking about , means it ’ s going to be absolutely blooming bonkers . In the very best way .
As Bay himself put it in a recent exclusive presentation of 25 minutes of The Last Knight footage . “ Hey , I ’ m Michael Bay , and I ’ m a strong believer in protecting the cinema experience .” You can say that again !
More than meets the eye So , what do we know ? Well , Mark Wahlberg ’ s Cade Yeager is back , along with Bumblebee and Optimus Prime . They ’ re joined by no-nonsense Oxford University professor , Vivian Wembley ( Laura Haddock ), as well as Isabela Moner ’ s Izabella , a tough tomboy with a sort of Rey / Buffy vibe going on . In other words , she ’ s all kinds of cool .
Oh yes , and Westworld ’ s Anthony Hopkins is in it , giving the franchise a gravitas it ’ s
