David Brent: Life on the Road
1 Life on the Road catches up
with David Brent 12 years after
the events of The Office, although
writer/star Ricky Gervais has
gone on record to say that it’s
“not an Office film”.
2 The former Wernham Hogg
general manager is now earning
his crust as a sales rep. When
we reunite with him, however,
he’s on tour with his rock band
Foregone Conclusion (having
taken a holiday from work).
3 The production is shot in the
same mockumentary style as
the TV series. As deluded as ever,
Brent thinks that he’s being filmed
for a Rolling Stones-style piece,
but it’s actually a ‘Where Are
They Now?’ documentary.
4 In order to promote the film,
Ricky Gervais (who plays Brent),
set up some live David Brent and
Foregone Conclusion concerts.
5 Brent’s band also includes Dom (Doc
Brown), who performed the spoof
reggae song ‘Equality Street’ with Ricky
Gervais for Comic Relief in 2013.
He’s probably an
entertainer third...
