The latest film news and previews from ODEON... Paddington 2 Michael Bond’s beloved bear is back... and he’s got a book thief to find! When Paddington ‘roared’ into cinemas in 2014, it charmed everyone who saw it. Funny and star-packed, with a plot that resonated with the times (that of a young refugee bear seeking shelter in London), it went on to become the highest grossing independent film of the year in the UK, taking an incredible £34.07 million at the British box office. But will lightning strike twice for the little bear? It certainly seems that way. Not only does Paddington 2 see the majority of the original cast returning, including Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins as Mr and Mrs Brown, Julie Walters as Mrs Bird and Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington, it also features several big-name additions. Look out for Hugh Grant as Phoenix Buchanan, an actor who thinks a little too highly of himself, and Brendan Gleeson as safecracker Knuckles McGinty. The plot is also, once again, charming. When Paddington, now a fully fledged member of the Brown family, spots an unusual pop-up book in Mr Gruber’s antiques shop, he thinks it will be the perfect 100th birthday gift for his beloved Aunt Lucy. After performing several odd jobs in order to be able to afford it (with mixed, often hilarious results), Paddington purchases the book. But then someone steals it. The meanie! Can Paddington, with the help of his new loved ones, track down the thief? Michael Bond, Paddington’s creator, passed away recently. This film should serve as a wonderful tribute to a kind and talented man. 10 NOV ///FILM GOSSIP/// 4 odeon.co.uk Watch the trailer • It’s only just been released but a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming is already in the works!
