Patti Cake$ TBC 15 An inspiring real-life love story starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy... A downtrodden woman refuses to give up on her dream of becoming a rap star! DIRECTOR Andy Serkis STARRING Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy DIRECTOR Geremy Jasper STARRING Danielle Macdonald, Bridget Everett “I don’t want to just survive. I want to truly live...” In the mood for some heartbreaking romance? Then might we suggest this superb biographical drama. The debut film of Andy Serkis (in a directing capacity at least, his acting highlights include some of the biggest movies ever), Breathe is based on the true story of Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield), a good-looking adventurer whose life is turned upside down when he contracts polio. Rendered paralysed, Robin draws courage from his devoted wife Diana (Claire Foy), who gives him reason to carry on. Trust us when we say you’ll cry. A festival favourite (and rightly so), this gritty, aspirational drama tells the story of would-be rapper Patricia Dombrowski (AKA Patti Cake$, AKA Killa P). Life hasn’t been especially kind to Patti (a charismatic Danielle Macdonald), but that hasn’t stopped her dreaming. What she wants more than anything is to become a legendary rapper, and she’s got the talent to do it – she just needs someone to give her a shot. Described as “one of the year’s most endearing discoveries” by Variety, this is soul-stirring, fist-pumping, toe-tapping stuff. You’ll walk out of the cinema grinning from ear to ear! 27 OCT 1 SEP The Limehouse Golem 15 A series of brutal murders rocks Victorian England...
