Defying gravity
In 1979, Roger Moore’s James Bond blasted off into space in Moonraker
ith the sad passing
of British actor Roger
Moore earlier this
year, we at ODEON Magazine
thought it would be fitting to
recall a time when the star
was in his absolute pomp.
This fantastic picture was
taken in 1979 at the premiere
of Moonraker, in which
Moore played James Bond
for a fourth time. As you
can see from the crowds
outside the ODEON Leicester
Square, the legendary
Secret Service agent was as
popular then as he is now.
Always a dry wit, Moore
described himself as the
fourth best Bond. While that’s
up for debate (he’s higher in
our minds), he was certainly
the longest serving, quaffing
his vodka martinis shaken
not stirred for an impressive
seven movies. Rest easy Sir
Roger, you’ll be missed.
