Yes folks, with this eagerly anticipated ninth chapter, the Skywalker saga is finally drawing to a close. Wrapping up four decades’ worth of plot threads was never going to be easy, but – in true Han and Chewie-style – director J.J. Abrams has delivered the goods with added swagger. Expect action, adventure and, above all, surprises from this magnificent denouement. Aided by Marielle Heller’s assured direction, Tom Hanks proves once again what a master craftsman he is in this wonderful biopic of the late American TV icon Fred Rogers. A Beautiful Day... is inspired by journalist Tom Junod’s 1998 Esquire article, with the writer – renamed Lloyd Vogel in the film – played by Welsh actor Matthew Rhys. After Vogel begrudgingly agrees to write a profile on Rogers, he is surprised to find his cynicism melting away in the face of his interviewee’s profound decency. In troubled times, this is a marvellous tonic. 19 DEC SEE P19 FOR OUR GREATEST CHARACTERS COUNTDOWN Playing with Fire 6 DEC TBC Elite firefighters meet their match in three unruly kids DIRECTOR ANDY FICKMAN STARRING JOHN CENA, JUDY GREER, BRIANNA HILDEBRAND, TYLER MANE After saving three young siblings from a wilderness inferno, straight-laced fire chief Jake Carson (John Cena) and his crème-de-la-crème team of smoke jumpers are forced to babysit them – until they can 26 DEC be returned to their parents.
