Officially becoming a team in 1927, they had audiences holding their sides for the best part of 30 years, during which time they appeared in no less than 107 screen 11 JAN productions, including 23 full-length feature films. In the twilight years of their career, they embarked on a gruelling tour of Britain and it’s this section of their extraordinary lives that this earnest comedy drama from Filth director Jon S. Baird chooses to concentrate on. Featuring affecting turns from Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly as Stan and Ollie respectively, this is a moving portrait of the iconic duo. messy origins Laurel and Hardy’s most famous catchphrase: “Well, here’s another nice mess you’ve gotten me into,” was first used by Hardy in the 1930 film The Laurel-Hardy Murder Case.
