Inside view Tell us about your job... I work in ODEON’s Operations department as the central operations communication and planning manager. Queenie, Queenie, who’s got the gong? What was the last film you saw at ODEON? The last film I saw at ODEON was Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again – I love a musical! Get excited for… Queens galore! And you thought history was boring... This January, get ready for the royal rumble to end them all as not one but two historical romps featuring British queens march into ODEON cinemas. Arriving first, on New Year’s Day, is Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Favourite. Starring Oscar winners Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone, it tells the story of the alleged lesbian love triangle that shocked the court of England’s luckless 18th- century monarch Queen Anne. Superbly witty, but also dark and devious, it’s received rave early reviews and is being touted as an awards frontrunner. Standing in its way, however, is Josie Rourke’s equally delectable Mary Queen of Scots, which sees Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan going head to head as Elizabeth I and bitter rival Mary Stuart. Who will get your royal seal of approval? The Favourite arrives in cinemas on New Year’s Day, while Mary Queen of Scots opens on 18 January • A follow-up to the US smash-hit Crazy Rich Asians has been given the green light 32 odeon.co.uk What’s your must-see list like right now?
