CRYSTAL GALLERIES

Michaela O ’ Halloran from Crystal Galleries talks about the art of sandblasting

Knowing how to sandblast a piece of glass can , in many circles be considered as a kind of art . Some projects are carried out with a close brief from the customer but others require more advice and input from the engraver .
As an engraver you might get a logo from a customer and no other requirements . This can provide a great opportunity to showcase sandblasting and some of the stunning art that can be made with the process .
Sandblasting allows us to be creative and play a bit with glass , design positioning or design itself . Some of my tips for getting creative are :
Give the design new breath by making the background sandblasted and keeping the logo transparent .
Experiment with deep sandblasting this can increase your project value and looks more attractive than surface sandblasting . Above all do not be afraid to experiment . Discover the possibilities of sandblasting and combine different decoration techniques .
Be different , be unique !
