Future Assets Challenge
Written by Zoe Govan ( S2 )
The Future Assets Challenge is a challenge about encouraging young women to think about finance as a career option ( as little as 12 % of the UK fund managers are women ) by trying to find the next biggest investment opportunity for keeping pension funds , saving or even charity donations safe .
This is the third time we have entered this challenge as Marr College and have been hoping for our first final within the challenge . On the 6th of September , a group of S5 girls from Marr rose to the challenge and have worked on what they think is going to be the next big investment . The challenge duration is 7 months full of different activities to do . From the 16th of September they started by getting introduced to their competition coaches ( who are from an investment company ) and will give them career insights through the challenge . They met their coaches in the city of Glasgow , for the kick-off for the event . Their coach ’ s name is Lorna Logan , who used to go to Marr College . From September to November are taking part in Online Masterclasses .
In November , it will be decided who are in the next round by submitting a research , report and 3-minute elevator pitch . We will discover who our finalists are in January and from the 7th of March the winner will be decided . The prizes are up to £ 1000 for the school who wins and vouchers towards the winners . We all say good luck to our girls .
