S2 Ayr Show Trip

In September , our S2 Students were given the opportunity to attend a STEM trip to Prestwick Airport . Whilst you were there you got to meet staff from various aerospace companies like GE , Spirit , BAC , Ryanair Engineering team and even the Royal Navy , they told you facts about their companies and the variety of jobs available in industry . We also got to learn different things from different companies , like how throttles are made on Ryanair planes , how you can 3D print testers and then build them using carbon fiber and other materials , BAC told us facts about aircraft manufacturing and how parts are built and Ayrshire College was showing us how they can help you get a career in aerospace , you got to have some fun by having a go on the flight simulator and flying mini drones . In Admin and Enterprise class , S2 ' s do the # DigiInventors challenge . In this challenge the S2 ' s need to find a way to encourage young people in Scotland to do more physical activity and to increase their fitness levels . Each year there is a different theme and this year ' s theme is Scottish field hockey . The finalists will attend a 2-day bootcamp about marketing skills before attending the finals against Scottish schools and schools joining online from Saudi Arabia . In this pitch , the teams will present their idea and how it works to the panel . The panel will then decide the winners . All finalists will get a goodie bag even if they didn ' t win . The winners will win great tech prizes and the school will get some funds . The winning team will also get to create their idea . Marr has entered all 5 of the finals and have won 3 of them so far . We wish good luck to all of our S2 teams !
