URI Guitar Festival at the URI College of Arts and Sciences

OCT . 20 – 23 : The seventh annual URI Guitar Festival brings virtuosos from all over to southern Rhode Island for four days of electrifying performances on URI ' s Kingston Campus , St . Augustine ’ s Church in Kingston , and at the Pump House Music Works in Peace Dale . The lineup includes dazzling Spanish guitarist Andrea Gonzalez Caballero , innovative acoustic player Andy McKee and Cuban-born virtuoso René Izquierdo , just to name a few . Festival organizer and URI guitar professor Adam Levin will perform solo with the Narragansett Bay Symphony Orchestra , the violin and guitar group Duo Sonidos , the Great Necks Guitar Trio and with Duo Mantar , a mandolin and guitar chamber group that topped the classical charts this year with their album Music From the Promised Land . Featuring performances on other plucked instruments like the oud , harp and mandolin , the festival also serves as a guitar educational platform , providing students and aficionados with an unparalleled learning experience through masterclasses and workshops .
