What were the first few performances or films the Greenwich Odeum showcased when it opened in 1994 ?
When the theater reopened as the Greenwich Odeum in the fall of 1994 , its focus shifted from films to serving as a performing arts venue . It offered a home to the Academy Players ( a local theater troupe ), offered theater classes and staged several performances . Love Letters took to the stage as the Odeum ' s first offering , featuring two stars from NBC ' s “ Another World .” A Patsy Cline tribute , the Warwick Symphony Orchestra , the British rock band Pendragon and a performance by Chicago ' s Second City comedy troupe were some of the first things to fill the theater ' s calendar during its inaugural year .
Which events are you looking forward to most in the upcoming season ?
The Odeum has so many great shows coming up . I am particularly looking forward to Livingston Taylor , who ’ s returning to the Odeum on October 8 , and first timers Christopher Cross who will make his Odeum debut on October 23 and world-renowned guitarist Stanley Jordan who ’ s bringing his Jimi Hendrix tribute “ Stanley Jordan Plays Jimi ” to the Odeum on November 11 . OCT . 30 : Providence Singers is a ninety-voice symphonic choir that performs with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and other area ensembles . The 2022 / 23 season is devoted to choral masterworks , and it begins with a Sunday afternoon performance of Joseph Haydn ' s “ The Creation ” at 3 p . m . The concert will be performed with the orchestra and guest soloists , artistic director Dr . Christine Noel conducting . Other symphonic concerts this season include Handel ' s Messiah ( Dec . 4 ) and Verdi ' s Requiem ( May 5-6 ) with the RI Philharmonic .
