What is the most exciting part of your role ?
To be on the stage with the orchestra , making music in the moment of performance – the sound is powerful and has the potential to completely submerge all of us within it , along with this extraordinary experience of traveling through
PHOTO COURTESY OF TODD ROSENBERG the highs and lows , emotions , brilliance and hushed moments of the music . As a conductor , I feel like I am the conduit for the energy of the orchestra , listening , reacting , leading and focusing all of its intention into one spontaneous one-time experience .
What are you looking forward to in the upcoming season ?
The programming for the upcoming season is epic . Opening with the extraordinary Also sprach Zarathustra ( the opening made famous by Kubrick ’ s 2001 : A Space Odyssey ) and finishing with the thrilling Verdi Requiem , this season has so many beautiful works , talented conductors and soloists , including Jaime Laredo performing Vivaldi ’ s Four Seasons and Bernstein ’ s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story . 667 Waterman Ave ., East Providence , riphil . org
