ROCKY HILL COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL Rocky Hill Country Day School alumni Jannessa Ya was honored at the State House this year as the recipient of the 2022 Lieutenant Governor Leadership Award . Jannessa was nominated by Rocky Hill ’ s Upper School faculty to receive this award because she embodies the qualities of a student leader , which include demonstrating dedication to her studies , demonstrating a commitment to community service , leading positive change in her school and community and inspiring others to excel and achieve . Among her many other achievements in her time at Rocky Hill , Jannessa also participated in the American Civil Liberties Union ’ s Summer Advocacy Program in Washington , D . C ., where she participated in a weeklong , firsthand learning experience with fellow social justice advocates . Jannessa is now attending Vassar College in Poughkeepsie , N . Y .
TYLER DUBUC , 2012
ST . ANDREW ' S SCHOOL Tyler Dubuc , St . Andrew ' s School Class of 2012 , is a freelance designer working on productions ranging from Broadway to TV broadcast . Recent highlights include collaborations with the Weeknd on the the Super Bowl LV Halftime Show , Bruce Springsteen on Springsteen on Broadway , and Billie Eilish on “ Saturday Night Live .” While at St . Andrew ’ s , he lent his technical prowess to many theatrical productions , development functions and commencement . He was also the boys ’ prep basketball manager , an accomplished student as a member of the National Honor Society
and a recipient of the King Medal , the school ’ s highest honor . After leaving St . Andrew ’ s , he attended American University and earned a double major in criminology and theatrical design . Tyler later earned his master of fine arts in design from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University . Tyler continues his academic journey as a professor at American University and Muhlenberg College . " Working on a globally broadcasted live event can be equally nerve-wracking and rewarding ," says Dubuc . “ But I can easily trace my skills , ability to communicate and ability to collaborate effectively back to what I learned at St . Andrew ’ s School .”
RANDELLE BOOTS , 2009
PROVIDENCE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL Randelle Boots began her law career as a member of PCD ' s mock trial team . “ PCD encourages students to stretch their minds and think in different ways ,” says Boots . “ Gaining the ability to pivot your thought process and develop new thought processes quickly was really helpful .” She earned a bachelor ’ s degree in environmental studies from Wellesley College and a J . D . from Vermont Law School . After working as both a judicial law clerk and an associate attorney , Boots joined the Rhode Island Attorney General ’ s Office in February as a special assistant attorney general in the Environmental and Energy Unit .
STEVE NAPOLILLO , 1994
BISHOP HENDRICKEN HIGH SCHOOL Following his graduation from Bishop Hendricken , Steve Napolillo earned a B . A . in political science from Providence College . In 2004 , Napolillo returned to PC as assistant director of athletic relations . Over the course of his eighteen-year career with the Friars , Napolillo has served as director of athletic development , associate athletic director for external relations , and senior associate athletic director / assistant vice president for external relations . Napolillo took part in the searches for coaches Ed Cooley and Nate Leaman , and was a critical fundraiser and marketer for the Friars . He helped secure $ 75 million in gifts for PC Athletics , assisted in strategic decisionmaking on capital projects around campus , and doubled ticket sales to reach over $ 5.3
million in revenue . In July , Napolillo took over as Providence College ’ s vice president and director of athletics .
AARON EMIGH , 1986
SCHOOL ONE An entrepreneur who has more than 120 issued patents , has sold four companies and taken one public , Emigh graduated from School One in 1986 . He attended UC Santa Cruz where he completed degrees in computer science and linguistics . Currently , Emigh is the co-founder and CEO of the award-winning Brilliant Smart Home System , and was previously co-founder / CTO of shopkick , EVP / GM of Technology at Six Apart , CTO of Rojo and founder / CEO of CommerceFlow . School One is so proud of Emigh ’ s successes — passionate engagement is what we want for all of our students .
JULIE PATALANO HAMIL , 1994
ST . MARY ACADEMY — BAY VIEW Julie Patalano Hamil made history in 2021 when she was appointed the first female state court administrator in the history of the Rhode Island judicial system . In the top administrative post , she manages the entire judicial branch , including a workforce of over 600 employees and judicial officers . Julie has been a public servant for most of her professional career . Hamil credits Bay View for helping her to develop as a conscientious leader . “ Beyond the academic education , Bay View taught me how to lead ; how to ‘ lean in ’ — long before Sheryl Sandberg coined the phrase — and I have been leaning in ever since ,” she says . “ When I meet a fellow Bay View graduate , I know she is a person of integrity and substance , someone not afraid to step up to challenges , someone that has the courage of her convictions .” A past Bay View Chair of the Board of Trustees , Hamil is a mother of three and resides with her husband Andy in southern Rhode Island .
