Residents of The Tenzing Luxury Apartments celebrated National Honey Month in September with the sweet golden goodness that comes from their own hives and is maintained on the property to benefit the environment .
Produced from the nectar of flowers in their own backyards , the honey is harvested and bottled under The Tenzing ’ s own private label and presented to new residents as a welcoming gift . Protecting bees is of critical importance in the state , where honey bee colonies saw a 22 % decline over the past two years and Colorado experienced the 5th highest decline nationwide .
By partnering with professional beekeepers from Best Bees , The Tenzing ’ s tiniest residents are now their own miniature tourist attraction while adding to the ecosystem . The Tenzing hives have successfully combined nature with the urban density of a multifamily development offering a unique opportunity for bee enthusiasts
to watch nature at work from a sting-friendly distance .
This is true Colorado living , with the Front Range view through apartment windows . Hosting a beekeeping site brings biodiversity to the apartment campus and contributes to the state ’ s pollinator support system , while demonstrating The Tenzing ’ s commitment to environmental preservation .
The Tenzing is proud to be a part of the beekeeping resurgence — made possible by the beekeepers at Best Bees — and are committed to educating landowners and new beekeepers about the role of the European honeybee , native pollinators , and the importance of both to the environment & our food system .
“ Overwhelmingly , people want to feel connected with the land and their food supply . The delicious Colorado honey just happens to be a perk of the trade ,” Best Bees says .
