Alternative metal from the band Fading Radiance
FADING , from P . 8 each other since they were children swimming together at the Hammonton Swim Club .
“ I ’ ve known Zach since we were 10 or 12 because we swam together at the Hammonton Swim Club . I met Dean on social media because we both were into guitar , music and that sort of stuff . And then me and Zach kind of like got distant for a while but then we started working together at Mc- Donald ’ s , and he started telling me about the band . And I was playing guitar . I was in another band , but I wasn ’ t really gelling with the other members . So then randomly I went up to Zach and I was like , ‘ Hey , do you guys need another guitarist ?’ And it just so happened Dean was about to post an ad on Instagram looking for another guitarist , so it was like perfect ,” Mazzochette said . Wines talked about the day Mazzochette asked about joining the band .
“ It was funny . It wasn ’ t even during the day I was working . He was working there and I came in like fully dressed up cause we had a show that day , and it was that day where he was just like ‘ Yo , you need another guitarist ?’ And I was like , ‘ Hit up Dean . I think we do ,’” Wines said .
After high school , Netelkos said Fading Radiance recorded their first EP titled ‘ Down & Bothered ’ using their graduation money .
“ We recorded that when COVID first hit , when the summer was starting ; things were starting to lighten up a little bit . Once local shows came back , we started playing to support the EP . Get the name out there . We started getting involved with the scene . And at the end of 2021 , we added Tony as a second guitar player because we were working on our second record already . The first thing that he did with us was the ‘ Wreckage ’ music video ,” Netelkos said .
The “ Wreckage ” music video was released on January 14 , 2022 . The song is part of the What I ’ ve Lost I ’ m Taking Back album .
“ That was a lot of fun to shoot . It was a cold November day ,” Netelkos said .
The video was shot mostly in Hammonton and on the outskirts .
“ It was shot by our friend AJ Berenato . He ’ s from Hammonton , so he did our video . I believe the locations were on his dad ’ s farm … Our buddy Steve let us set up in this field for the fire scene and where the full band is playing , but anywhere where we are by the woods or lake that was AJ Berenato ’ s dad ’ s property ,” Netelkos said .
There are some challenges Fading Radiance faces being a young adult band balancing other responsibilities .
“ Balancing work , school , our normal life stuff and also being in a band , which is like a full-time job ,” Mazzochette said .
Netelkos said they do everything themselves .
“ It ’ s all do it yourself . It ’ s do it yourself merch , do it yourself touring , do it yourself music release and do it yourself promo . You have to do everything yourself ,” Netelkos said .
Some of the members currently study at Stockton University , Rutgers University and Rowan University .
Fading Radiance played their biggest show on April 5 , 2022 during Woodstockton , Stockton University ’ s annual spring concert .
“ Back in April we won the contest to be Woodstockton openers at Stockton and we opened for A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie , so that was interesting . We got to play ‘ Wreckage ’ for 3,500 people . That was definitely an experience ,” Netelkos said .
