PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE

I hope everyone is having a great early fall so far , as here at ASCE-NH was certainly are ! During the last week of September ASCE-NH , in collaboration with Structural Engineers of New Hampshire ( SENH ), hosted a well-attended joint meeting at the Derryfield Country Club in Manchester where we all were able to gather , discuss the pertinent engineering and business issues of the day , and watch a great presentation by Brian Nereson on the uses and advantages of ground improvements . The talk and the associated discussions were detailed , thought-provoking , and a great opportunity for all .
Next month we will be having our joint ASCE-NH / VT meeting in White River Junction at the Coolidge Hotel in White River Junction VT on November 17 th . I hope just as many or more that made it to the September meeting can again join us for a night of learning and networking . The speaker will be Josh Gilman from the Portland Cement Association ( PCA ), a premier policy , research , and education organization , who will be talking the Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality . Should be a great evening and l am really looking forward to it !
As a reminder to all , the board is fortunate that long time member Nick Golon has stepped up on an interim basis into the president-elect role , but he is not able to fill the part going forward full time . ASCE-NH is a great organization that does fantastic charity work to give back to the engineering community in addition to being a wonderful networking opportunity . If you or anyone you know is interested in a leadership role with our organization , please contact us to attend our next board meeting ( via Zoom ) to see what we are about .
As a reminder , the lunch and learns were extremely successful last year and we are excited to continue that trend going forward . The L & Ls will likely restart around the holidays , so keep an eye out for upcoming news and events .
My best to you and yours , Owen Friend-Gray PE ASCE-NH President
