PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD
Please join me in welcoming Scott Shank and Finley Waddell to our Board of Directors and in thanking Thom Gill and James Owens for their years of tireless service to the Lexington Golf and Country Club .
Cliff and his outstanding team have a fun fall in store for us and are already planning for 2022 . Their reports speak for themselves so my report will cover some of what the 2021- 22 Board has committed to do .
Vice President Neal Lineberry will chair the Major Events Committee . Neal , James Owens , Natalie Garvis , Molly Steele and Weenie Miller will plan , promote and coordinate events that will include all of our members … Memorial Day , Member Member Weekend , Member Guest Weekend , July 4th and Labor Day . Neal will have more details , but one of the goals is to include all members in all of these events .
Natalie Garvis will continue to serve as Treasurer . We are incredibly fortunate to have Natalie in this role . She is the expert on the Club ’ s finances . Scott Shank , who is also a CPA , will work alongside Natalie as we work through our challenges and opportunities . We are committed to keeping the membership informed as to our financial health .
Kevin Burke has enthusiastically agreed to stay on as Membership Chair . His exciting 25 for 25 Plan is detailed elsewhere in this newsletter . Speaking of newsletter , it is the work of Bev Burks , who will continue to lead its production .
Steve Grist will continue as Social Chair and Molly Steele as Pool and Racquets Chair . Lauren Jensen will head up a new initiative to improve our Food and Beverage experience . Hal Hill will again chair our Golf and Greens Committee and Finley will join that group . Past President Jason Melvin has agreed to continue as our lead contact with Washington and Lee . Jason , Neal , Natalie , Thom Gill and I meet regularly with the Washington and Lee folks and , as with our finances , we are committed to transparency as those ongoing discussions . We have no timetable or announcement to make , but can share that discussions continue and we remain confident of an outcome that will be positive for the future of the Club .
When you next see Jason , please thank him not only for this effort , but for his passionate and thoughtful leadership as President for the last two years .
