scoring with a Net and Gross Division . The 2 person teams can be composed of any manner of participants . There is a sign-up sheet in the Pro Shop .
A GLOW BALL EVENT ( Night golf ) is scheduled for Thursday , Oct 21 . There will be 3 activities you can participate in . At 4:00 we will kick off with a fun 2-person captain ’ s choice 9-hole event . Dinner will be at 6:00 and then Glow Ball starting at 6:50 . You can sign up for 1 or all 3 of the events a la carte or in total . Guests are invited . All events open to juniors and beginners .
COLLEGES : As you are aware , The Washington & Lee Men ’ s and Women ’ s golf teams use LGCC as their home course . Both teams are ranked in the pre-season top 30 in Division III . The women ’ s team is currently ranked 8th in the nation . Megan Kanady recently shot 73-73 at the Montgomery , Alabama Intercollegiate to finish tie 12 . Eight of the top 25 teams in the nation competed in this event . The men ’ s team competed in the competitive NCAA Preview finishing 11th out of 24 teams .
Additionally , Nate Preslar from SVU finished 2nd in the Bridgewater Invitational . You may have seen Nate out here practicing . Last week he jumped in and gave our juniors a putting lesson . This past summer Nate had taken lessons from Daniel Summerhays from Utah . Summerhays played the PGA tour and was recognized as one of the best putters on tour . A day after helping out , Sofia Vargas went out and shot her personal best ; a 76 at Heritage Oaks .
COURSE CONDITIONS : The golf course recovered well from the aerification and from the 7 + inches of rain that fell Sept 21-22 . Soft and wet conditions result in unexpected Cart Path only restrictions that we can ’ t avoid . Please respect the Superintendents and Pro shop instructions , we don ’ t like it either , but it is for the good of the course and membership .
The Putting / chipping green near the parking lot has recently received a great deal of attention and is in really good shape . We NEED everyone to REPAIR ANY AND ALL BALLMARKS created by your chipping . Please use this green for bump and runs only and not 30-yard pitch shots .
Always looking for donations for junior golfers just learning the game . Your used golf balls and older clubs in any condition are appreciated , drop everything off at the Pro Shop .
