FALGUNI AND SHANE PEACOCK: BONJOUR AMER
Drawing on the beauty of Jaipur, the Pink City, Falguni and Shane
Shan e Peacock’s
‘Bonjour Amer’ was an amalgamation of glitzy Parisian style and the
traditional craftsmanship of Jaipur. The frescoes, carvings, domes, and
paintings of Jaipur were brought alive on garments, with embellishments
glittering under the ramp lights. Keeping the colour story muted except for
a single, startlingly dramatic red entry of a sensational layered lehenga and
bralette, the pair worked with shades of lavender, fog, smoke, green, pewter,
ballet pink, scallop shell, Tuscan gold, midnight blue, Spanish vanilla, prism
silver, and black. The signature opulence of the Peacock bride was made
highly evident in the designer-duo’s couture lehengas; gowns with giant
crinolines and asymmetrically layered, cascading fabrics were all highlighted
with the trademark feather detailing the designers are renowned for. The
tiered, long skirts were, at times, worn with intricately styled blouses, while
the veiled, serene entries created a mysterious vibe around the collection.
