Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) on
September 16, 2019 in Mumbai.

Councils met the Hon’ble Union Minister of
Textiles Smt. Smriti Irani and Secretary (Textiles)
Shri Ravi Capoor on October 4, 2019 in New
Delhi to present a Joint Memorandum on Issues
facing the Industry. On behalf of CMAI, Rahul
Mehta, President, was among the Industry
Chiefs present.
CMAI and Other National Associations Collectively Discuss
Ways to Brave the Current Economic Slowdown
CMAI, along with all National Associations across the whole Value Chain of the Textile Industry, met on September
28, 2019 in New Delhi to discuss a common presentation to be made to the Government to help the Industry survive
the current slowdown. Points raised by CMAI were Unrestricted Imports from Bangladesh, a Uniform five per cent
Goods and Services Tax (GST) across the entire Value Chain, a special Category under ‘Priority Industry’ for fixing
separate slabs of Minimum Wages, Working Capital Interest Rates for the Domestic Sector that are on par with Exports,
Encouraging Branded Exports, Banning of Used Garments, etc.
