Evelyn Carney
EVELYN CARNEY
CLARKSVILLE–Evelyn “Toodles” Pearl (McKinnon) Carney,
81, passed away peacefully with
her family by her side at her
home in Clarksville on Friday,
Sept. 30, 2016.
Evelyn was the daughter of
Donald and Evelyn (Robinson)
McKinnon. She was born on Dec.
5, 1934, in Burlington, Mass., the
eldest of six siblings. She graduated from Burlington High
School in 1953 and went on to a
three-year nursing degree program at the Nashua Memorial
Nurse Training Hospital in
Nashua. She worked at the Coos
County Nursing Hospital in
Stewartstown until she married
the love of her life, Wilmont (Bob)
Carney on May 11, 1957, in her
parents’ living room in Clarksville. She had met Bob at her
cousin’s and dearest, Emily
Haynes, home in Stewartstown.
Several months following the
wedding, she moved with her
family to a farm in Madbury for
about three years, only to return
to Clarksville in 1961 to plant
their roots and raise seven children.
She had quite a passion for
sewing, knitting, making jingle
bread, and embroidery. Evelyn
loved to knit hats, mittens, and
scarves for Christmas every year
for her family, including the
neighborhood kids over the
years. She sewed clothing, doll
clothes, or whatever was needed
on her Singer peddle sewing
machine. Bob bought her a new
electric one, but she preferred
the peddle machine. Every year
for the holidays she would be
hard at work making her jingle
bread for friends and family. She
also dabbled in embroidery, making pillow cases and wall hangings for family and friends. Her
pet peeve was cleaning out the
ice box. One of her favorite pastimes over the years became her
puzzles that she got a lot of peace
and an enjoyment from.
Evelyn is survived by three
daughters: Cheryl (Carney) Eastman and husband, Bob of Stewartstown;,

(Carney)

of Canaan, Vt., and Kizzie (Carney) Pinet and husband, Kevin
