Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational Comes to a Close
The 24th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational recently came to a close Oct . 9 after more than a week of painting , talks and competition put on by the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association , that boasts more than 700 members . The event kicked off Oct . 1 with Welcome Paint out for association members at Heisler Park , Main Beach and Treasure Island Park and continued with a “ Quick Draw ” event at Heisler , silent auction benefiting both the artist and the association , kids events , nocturne paint out and more . The invitational attracted 35 distinguished open air painters from all across the country . At the end of the week , the artists submitted what they considered to be their best pieces for a Collectors Gala exhibition . MEET CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE LOUIS WEIL

Since May , 39-year-old City Council candidate Louis Weil has been campaigning for one of the three empty seats available in the Nov . 8 election on a platform focused on the Laguna Beach family .
The father of two young sons , a Little League coach , and PTA member , Weil said one of his goals , if he was voted into office , is to create a more family-friendly environment in Laguna Beach .
“ The population is aging , and we need a fresh influx of younger residents to maintain the vibrancy of our town ,” he said .
Weil graduated from Arizona State , where he majored in communications with minored in business and justice . From there , he worked as sales director for Wrigley , in charge of sales and promotion teams and is now a realtor , keeping travel to a minimum so he can enjoy family life .
Weil has served on the Design Review Board for three years , two as chairperson . He ’ s also served on the Affordable Housing Task Force and Chamber of Commerce . Weil is one of only two candidates endorsed by the Orange County League of Conservation Voters . The other is Alex Rounaghi .

Coast Film & Music Festival Back for its Fourth Year
Festival to feature Five Summer Stories , Honk band to play live

The Fourth Annual Coast Film & Music Festival ( CFMF ), the signature event of 501c ( 3 ) The Coast Film Foundation , is back for its fourth year . From Nov . 9 to 13 , the festival is offering a new and exciting range of shows and events that will appeal to sports- and nature lovers as well as the general public .
The CFMF online film festival will kick off Nov . 17 and continue until Nov . 27 .
“ We ’ re thrilled to announce that Coast Film & Music will once again take over the Festival of Arts site in Laguna Beach ,” said Ben Warner , festival co-founder and organizer . “ The venue , which is near a protected stretch of ocean as well as 22,000 acres of wilderness park , offers a fantastic indoor / outdoor setting that underscores the themes of the festival .”
Warner is also excited to announce the festival ’ s new name – Coast Film & Music Festival .
“ We know filmgoers also love live music , and as we grow , we are committed to booking local and national acts that fit with the cultural ethos of our adventure-loving crowd .”
