Maintaining its decades-old tradition , this multi-generational spot plates plenty of classic western European dishes . The restaurant continues to evolve with touches of Asian influence in classic continental dishes from chef Peter Long .
An opening dining space is the result of a recent facelift . Spherical lighting reminiscent of tangled ribbon graces the grand room . Heat from fireplaces add warmth , while soft carpet amps up the cozy factor . Though the goddess pillars have been removed , the charm of the space remains .
Maxime regulars , dressed for the evening in blazers and sparkly brooches , fill up the restaurant for dinner early .
In the midst of Old World elegance , fusion influence creates some of the menu ' s most craveable dishes . Potstickers filled with sesame chicken and pork pack a ginger heavy punch . Standout shrimp citrus spinach salad brims with peaches , mandarins and succulent sautéed tiger prawns .
Red wine burgundy mushroom sauce poured over tender veal imparts rich flavour . Side dishes add substance and heft . Steamed broccoli , cauliflower and carrots are accompanied by a choice of potatoes . Orange pecan walleye with a panko crust is another stunner . A sweet orange sauce laden with crunchy pecans provides a perfect accompaniment for dipping .
