STM: How long have you been singing and what got you started?

Mz. Yola: Well I’ve been singing all my life. I got started with singing, you know, in church. When I ventured off into high school I was in a group with 2 other girls, then in college I was singing with 2 other girls too. And I just came home and have been singing by myself ever since, so it’s been I guess 4 years I’ve been singing so well.

STM: That’s cool. Who were some of yours influences?

Mz. Yola: I love India.Arie….um, Algebra Blessett, Jill Scott and I listen to Anita Baker a lot.

STM: That’s what’s up, so how old are you?

Mz. Yola: I’m 22 years old.

STM: Oh that’s cool, still young doing your thing?

Mz. Yola: Yup.

STM: Are you signed? Mz. Yola: No I’m not signed, if I can do everything as an independent artist then there is no need to be signed with a big label.

STM: Do you have any cds or videos currently out? Mz. Yola: Yes my Ep "My rendition of Love" is out in stores now available on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and Reverbnation. If you visit my website www.perfectlyola.com everything is there too. STM: What would say your some of your best accomplishments were so far in the music? Mz. Yola: some of my best accomplishments are attaining the fan based that I always dreamed about, and being able to express myself through my music with people relating to it. It feels good going from a little girl writing songs in my Barbie note book performing to my dolls, to now writing and recording songs and performing in front of a crowd that’s respecting my music. STM: So what’s next for Mz Yola? Mz. Yola: What’s next is building an even bigger fan base and reaching out to people from all over the world.

STM: What’s the name of the cd?

Mz. Yola: “My Rendition of Love.” STM: Ok last question, where can fans hear your music? But I guess you’ve already put that out. Mz. Yola: Yeah, I put that out there. Itunes, um….Reverbnation, Amazon, check out my Youtube page at SingingbirdYola and my website WWW.perfectlyola.com
