Issue Number 09 | October 2020
Back in September we shared our new school values of Community , Ambition , Respect and Equality and look forward to launching these formally when the related design work is in place . Another highlight of last term was the virtual Prizegiving presentation and it was important for us to recognise and celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students across session 2019-20 .
Dear parents and carers ,
Welcome to the Autumn edition of the Marr College newsletter , which is packed full of information and articles celebrating the success and achievements of our young people and provides a welcome change from communication relating to Covid matters .
All year groups have settled very well and as we continue to adapt to the changes in guidance for schools , I continue to be impressed by the resilience , positivity and strength of character shown by our students . Staff across the school have also been outstanding in their delivery of the curriculum during these challenging times and I am proud to work alongside such positive , creative and dedicated colleagues .
One of our main areas of focus this year is to enhance our use of technology to support learning across and beyond the school . This work is being driven by our Digital Transformation strategy and we have already made great progress with a significant investment in IT equipment and over 77 members of staff achieving the Microsoft Innovative Educators ( MIE ) badge through completing online training in the use of Teams and Microsoft Apps .
I would like to thank you all for your continued patience , support and understanding as we continue to navigate our way through this session . As always , please don ’ t hesitate to contact us via marr . mail @ south-ayrshire . gov . uk or by calling 01292 690022 if you have any queries or concerns .
Best wishes
George Docherty Head Teacher
