Mental Health Leadership Team NHS Training

The S6 Mental Health Leadership Team have received some training from Mrs Karen Lee , the Mental Health and Wellbeing Correspondent for NHS Ayrshire and Arran and have gained knowledge that they plan to use throughout the year .
Our S6 Mental Health and Leadership Team have been busy recently , having received training from Mrs Karen Lee who is the Mental Health and Wellbeing Correspondent for NHS Ayrshire and Arran . On Tuesday 22 nd of September 2020 , the Mental Health Leadership had a meeting via Microsoft Teams with Mrs Karen Lee , which has previously been held in school but could only be done virtually due to Covid19 restrictions this year . The class teacher Mr Bell organised and sat in on the meeting ; build it into the curriculum , which they plan to use to create a block of PSE lessons for the S1 classes on mental health and wellbeing . They received some fantastic resources to build into their lesson blocks and inform our S1s on their mental health and wellbeing . One of the members of the Mental Health Leadership team , Robyn Jamieson , commented on her experiences with the meeting ;
“ Meeting with Karen Lee provided beneficial to our Mental Health group . It gave us great insight into the different ways in which mental wellbeing can affect our everyday lives . Having this meeting has allowed us to begin to form ideas on how to educate students and raise awareness of mental wellbeing around Marr .”
“ We invited Karen Lee in to provide training based around providing young people with a Practical Approach to helping their own and others Mental Health . The Mental Health leadership group are going to use this training as the basis of PSE lessons for young pupils to help younger pupils develop techniques to promote positive mental health .”
