THE SPOTLIGHT IS ON….
INTERNATIONAL
WOMEN’S DAY 2019
On Friday 8th March 2019, the
world celebrated International
Women’s Day under the
theme “Think Equal, Build
Smart, Innovate for Change”.
In this issue of the One
Magazine, we will like to
put the spotlight on Tanika
Sanchez-Roberts, who is an
entrepreneur that is making a
difference in the business of
beauty.
However, after her responsibilities,
Tanika is also a professional Make-up
Artiste under her company VLVT Glam
(pronounced Velvet Glam). Even though
she has been doing makeup professionally
for the last 5 years, VLVT has been opened
for six months.
VLVT strives to be a full-service makeup
studio with three areas of focus: Special
Event Makeup, Bridal Makeup and Makeup
Classes.
As a budding entrepreneur the main
reason why she got into this business is
she loves making women “feel good”. She
says that “makeup has the
power to change a woman’s
outlook about herself and
her immediate situation. A
touch of makeup is often all it
takes for someone to see and
discover their own beauty all
over again. I love seeing my
clients’ reactions at the end of
a session and how they step
out of my studio with more
confidence than they came
in. It’s a wonderful feeling to
witness that transformation.”
The Women/People
Doing makeup is a very
intimate. You are basically
within someone’s personal
space for an extended period
and during this time, people
tend to open up and share.
Over my years as a makeup
artist I have met many
beautiful people and heard
some of the most amazing,
funny and inspiring stories.

Who/what influence you to become a
Make Up Artiste
For as long as I could remember, I’ve always
been around the beauty industry. My older
sister is a world-class hairdresser and from
a young age, my twin sister and I would be
in her salon on a daily basis after school. It
