Grenada Broadcasting
Network Annual Staff
Retreat
On 15th 2019 and 21 February 2019, the Management and Staff at
the Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) held an Annual Retreat.
The purpose of the meeting was not only to analyze and discuss
the state of the media industry in Grenada, but also to crunch
ideas on how to take GBN forward in 2019 and beyond.
Presentations were made by two Directors of GBN.. They
encouraged the staff to take a critical look at the media landscape
and develop strategies which would keep
GBN at the cutting edge.
Mr. Andall highlighted the importance of
the exercise, noting that “every business
needs to take time to review its operations
and decide where it wants to go in the
future. So it may appear to some that you
have just taken a ‘day off’ but what you
are doing here today is very important.”
The advent of new social media platforms
was identified by Mr. Troy Garvey as one
of the dimensions which presents both
a challenge and an opportunity for
traditional media organizations.
and other devices so they are no longer waiting for us to tell them in
the nightly television news about what is happening, they are now
looking for an interpretation of the days’ events” he said.
Recognising that the well-being of its employees is of paramount
importance, the staff retreat also included sessions on Health and
Wellness. These discussions were led by Dr. Alejandro Miguen,
an Internal Medicine Specialist who is also a lead practitioner
in Emergency Response and Care. He also lectures at the St.
George’s University School of Medicine and is attached to the
General Hospital.
The retreat also saw, members of staff delivering presentations
