Nation House is now called the Harold Hoyte
& Fred Gollop Media Complex
The Nation House was officially re-named
the Harold Hoyte & Fred Gollop Media
Complex in honour of two of The Nation’s
founders.
During the ceremony, which was held on
Thursday 2nd May 2019, the new name of
the complex was unveiled by Lady Yvonne
Gollop and Mrs. Noreen Hoyte in the
presence of Prime Minister of Barbados,
the Honorable Mia Amor Mottley.
Prime Minister Mottley delivered the
feature address, where she spoke of
the integral role that The Nation and its
founders played in building Barbados and
reshaping journalism in the country and
throughout the region.
Dr. Grenville Phillips, Director, OCM Group,
recounted the Nation’s journey and how
the organisation grew from a small office
in the centre of Barbados’ capital to one of
the Caribbean’s most noted media houses.
In between presentations, members
of the Hoyte and Gollop families were
honoured with tributes to commemorate
and celebrate the legacy of these Nation
builders.
