RESEARCH FOUNDATION
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW INVITED
FOR THE 2020 FUNDING ROUND
Grants are available in the following categories:
RESEARCH PRIORITY GRANT
(1 grant of up to £100,000)
This grant supports a project that clearly addresses an
identified occupational therapy research priority area
in the UK and demonstrates that it will increase the
research capacity of the profession by including
developmental opportunities for other
occupational therapists within the project. Lead
applicants will be mid-career researchers who
have completed their PhD within the last 10 years.
RESEARCH CAREER DEVELOPMENT GRANT
(up to 2 grants of up to £10,000 each)
This grant provides support towards doctoral or early
post-doctoral (up to 5 years from completion of PhD or
similar) research for individuals who can demonstrate
a commitment to developing a career pathway as an
occupational therapy researcher.
SYSTEMATIC REVIEW GRANT
(up to 2 grants of up to £10,000 each)
This grant will support efforts to extend the assimilation
and development of the evidence base underpinning
occupational therapy. In this funding round, support is
offered for one systematic review to be focussed on the
topic ‘The effectiveness of occupational therapy
interventions to support return to work’, and for a
second systematic review focussed on a demonstrable
research priority area identified by the applicant.
Eligibility criteria
For all grants, the lead applicant must
be a member of the British Association
of Occupational Therapists (BAOT) at
the time of applying. Co-applicants may
include non-occupational therapists.
Co-applicants who have an
occupational therapy qualification
must also be members of BAOT.
Submission dates
The deadline for receipt by
RCOT of grant proposals is 5pm on
Wednesday 12th February 2020.
