RCOT Awards for Learning,
Development & Research
Are you looking for funding to support your career development?
The Royal College of Occupational Therapists’ Awards support funding for learning, development & research activities,
and off ers the opportunity to add to your portfolio in one or more of the four Pillars of Practice. The suitability of each
award is mapped to the relevant Career Levels within the Career Development Framework (RCOT 2017).
The 2019 Awards scheme opens on Monday 20th August 2018 and off ers an exciting funding opportunity to RCOT
members towards activities commencing or taking place during the calendar year January to December 2019.
Nine awards are available.

To support an individual professional member
participating in a service development activity or
project likely to have any impact on outcomes for
service users/carers, occupational therapy service
eff ectiveness, and on professional practice.
To support an innovative or developmental project
activity likely to have an impact on service users and
the profession. Open to all members.
To support UK pre-registration student member’s
participation in an approved overseas practice
placement; Erasmus Exchange Scheme; or global
health project.
Towards a pre-registration student member’s
entrepreneurial activity, including projects, community
engagement or new service development with a focus
on the relevance of the activity to occupational therapy
and benefi t to service users.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL AWARD
Two awards of £750 each
To support a professional member’s active participation
in an overseas activity.
Towards a practice development/evaluation project
or research activity in a topic relevant to occupational
therapy which also demonstrates the use of the AMPS,
School AMPS, ESI or OTIPM. Open to professional and
student members.
Support for an individual professional member for a
research activity in a topic relevant to occupational
therapy and mental health, with relevance to the fi eld
of social psychiatry.
Provides support for an individual professional or
student member towards an activity that forms part
of their education, research or continuing professional
development.
To enable an individual professional member to begin
to participate in research, through pilot or preliminary
research activity relevant to occupational therapy in
statutory and non-statutory sectors and the activity/
project must be linked to practice.
