OTnews: When and why did you decide to become an
ambassador for the disabled access review charity Euan’s
Guide?
Laura Irwin: I first came across the charity at a ‘Tech for Good’
meet up event. I was working as an occupational therapist in an
acute neurology and neurosurgery setting and couldn’t help but
think of all the people I had worked with who could benefit from
knowing about Euan’s Guide.
I could recognise the alignment with the work of the charity and
that of an occupational therapist, both striving towards finding and
creating accessible environments for disabled people.
I was intrigued by its approach of using technology to make
the world more accessible and took a leap of faith to pursue an
opportunity to work for this fantastic, forward-thinking charity in a
non-traditional post.
