Independent occupational
therapists working with
younger people
Independent occupational therapists
are using a variety of approaches to
deliver occupational therapy differently
to children with an education, health
and care plan (EHCP).
Therapists are facilitating therapy
sessions with some children by video
conferencing and sending written
resources afterwards to support
ongoing or new goals. Younger
children and those with limited
attention are given home programmes;
parents provide photographs and
videos so that the therapist can update
therapy plans for the next session.
Some families who fund their own
therapy chose to suspend intervention
until after the Easter holidays; others
have been grateful for continuing
support as uncertainty and the lack of
school routine has had a huge impact
on their children.
