The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) have implemented new stringent guidelines regarding security procedures for Electric Utilities that will go into effect in early 2018. To ensure Ocala Electric Utility (OEU) is in compliance with the new NERC/FERC guidelines, OEU has completed the Physical Access Security System (PASS) project. PASS upgrades include a new dual-authentication access management system as well as new video cameras providing 100% coverage of restricted areas through surveillance and monitoring. These upgraded security measures were added to the OEU System Operations Center as well as three Substations.
