On Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, Aaron shadowed Eric Weaver, an Electrical Engineer III at Ocala Electric Utility. It was a great day! Aaron received a true view of what makes an electrical engineering job interesting. Together they were involved in conversations with management, engineering solutions, customer and construction crew interaction, and designing a pole with engineering software. It was a perfect day to see the job function of an Engineer.

Eric Weaver was honored to have Aaron shadow him. Aaron followed up with an email stating “It was a great experience for me and I learned a lot of good information! Electric Engineering is definitely the career I will pursue after seeing what it's like”.

Job Shadowing Program

"It was a great work and personal experience having Garrett Gibbs shadow me on February 6th. I am a Relay Technician in the Substation division at Ocala Electric Utility, and was able to provide Garrett details from my job experiences. It was enjoyable to watch Garrett learned and listened as I explained and gave him insight on the growth of the Relaying Technician field. This experience was a great way for the City of Ocala Electric Utility department to give back to our community. I'm glad to be a part of this program and learning experience.". - Will Laiz

Aaron Kreiser, a senior at West Port High School, is a graduate of the “Pathways 2 Prosperity” program, and spent last year participating in field trips to manufacturing facilities, two medical practices, a restaurant, and a farm just to name a few. The participating group ended with an on-campus “Mock Job Interview” day and a “Financial Literacy Workshop.”

As a “graduate” of the program and now a senior, Aaron had the opportunity to have one excused day away from school to shadow someone in the position that he wants to pursue. For Aaron, he wants to be an “Electrical Engineer.”
