Theater provides a powerful medium for storytelling and raising awareness about gender-based violence . “ The Vagina Monologues ” by V ( formerly known as Eve Ensler ) is a play that brought global attention to issues of women ’ s sexuality , violence , and empowerment , leading to the creation of V-Day and One Billion Rising . Rising organizers can host plays , monologues , and spoken word performances to amplify the voices of those affected by gender-based violence , and hold creative writing sessions to craft poems and monologues inspired by the 2025 Campaign .
VOICES : A Sacred Sisterscape Audio Play - In June 2024 , One Billion Rising introduced the world to a new production “ VOICES : A Sacred Sisterscape Audio Play ,” spearheaded by aja monet ( Grammy-nominated poet and Voices Artistic Creative Director for V-Day ). This innovative audio play , produced by Hollis Heath and V-Day , brings the stories of Black women to life , woven into a soundscape by Grammynominated music producer LeahAnn “ Lafemmebear ” Mitchell .
