Creating Accessible Content and Materials

You may want to create content and materials to promote your rising ( ex : instagram post ) or you may be creating content and materials for the rising itself ( ex : visual art ). Here are general recommendations that apply to both scenarios :
Graphics and Images
This includes visual art ( digital or physical ), social media , slide decks , promotional materials , websites , etc .
Use Large Text in Plain Font
Examples : Arial , Verdana , Helvetica , Tahoma , Roboto . Recommended sizes : Titles ( 90-160x ), Paragraphs ( 36-60x ).
High Contrast Colors
Ensure clear contrast between text and background ( e . g ., pale text on dark background ). Use tools like the WebAIM Contrast Checker or an Accessible Color Contrast website . Filter for “ AAA .” Perform a grayscale check .
Separate Photos and Text
To ensure text legibility , keep it separate from images . If text overlays an image , use a solid-colored block behind it .
Avoid Emoji Substitution
Do not replace text with emojis . If using emojis , limit to one at the start or end of a word .
Avoid Reliance on Color Alone
For critical information , include patterns , labels , or distinguishing features in addition to color . Learn more about color blindness and design .
Avoid Flashing / Strobing Animations Prevent discomfort for viewers with light sensitivity or epilepsy .
Keep Graphics Uncluttered Maintain simplicity to ensure clarity and avoid overwhelming viewers .
