Theater provides a powerful medium for storytelling and raising awareness about gender-based violence.“ The Vagina Monologues” by V( formerly known as Eve Ensler) is a play that brought global attention to issues of women’ s sexuality, violence, and empowerment, leading to the creation of V-Day and One Billion Rising. Rising organizers can host plays, monologues, and spoken word performances to amplify the voices of those affected by gender-based violence, and hold creative writing sessions to craft poems and monologues inspired by the 2025 Campaign.
VOICES: A Sacred Sisterscape Audio Play- In June 2024, One Billion Rising introduced the world to a new production“ VOICES: A Sacred Sisterscape Audio Play,” spearheaded by aja monet( Grammy-nominated poet and Voices Artistic Creative Director for V-Day). This innovative audio play, produced by Hollis Heath and V-Day, brings the stories of Black women to life, woven into a soundscape by Grammynominated music producer LeahAnn“ Lafemmebear” Mitchell.
