Obelisk , the Journal of Literature and the Arts at Saint David ’ s School , was named by Nicholas Kanavos , Class of 2014 . Nicholas examined Saint David ’ s Mission Statement for inspiration and found that the first letters of several key words could be combined to form our title . O stands for Omega , B for Balance , E for Excellence , L for Love of Learning , I for Ideals , S for Spirituality , and K for Knowledge .
As these words guide the academic accomplishments and personal bearings of the Saint David ’ s student , they guide as well his mind and his hand as he labors joyfully to produce meaningful artistic responses to the world .
