DAY 1 • Depart U . S . Depart the U . S . today on your flight to Aberdeen , Scotland .
DAY 2 • Aberdeen , Scotland You ’ ll be met at the airport by an O . A . T . representative and then transfer to your hotel . After checking in , meet your fellow travelers who joined our Great Britain : From York to Edinburgh pre-trip extension and those who arrived early in Aberdeen before their adventure , then join your Trip Experience Leader for an orientation walk .

DAY 3 • Aberdeen • Embark ship Set off on a walking tour of Aberdeen with a local guide this morning . Known as “ the Granite City ” for its primary building material , Aberdeen is characterized by its silvery-gray architecture . Our walk takes us down Union Street , where we ’ ll see notable sights such as St . Nicholas Church and the Mercat Cross . Then , transfer to the 98-passenger M / V Corinthian .

DAY 4 • Orkney Isles • Orkney sheep farm experience • Churchill Barriers
Experience life on a working sheep farm today . Pitch in with some chores , enjoy a sheepdog demonstration , then help prepare lunch . Afterwards , visit the Churchill Barriers , built more than 80 years ago in response to a surprise attack from a German U-boat . We ’ ll also see Orkney ’ s famous Italian Chapel .

DAY 5 • Sumburgh Head • Shetland pony visit • Home-Hosted Dinner
This morning we ’ ll visit Sumburgh Head , a towering cliff on the island ’ s southern tip where seals frolic and various sea birds whirl overhead . Then later this afternoon , we ’ ll meet the iconic Shetland pony and have the chance to pet them and brush their shaggy manes . This evening , join a local family for a Home- Hosted Dinner .

DAY 6 • Bergen , Norway • Funicular ride up Mount Floyen
Embark on a day of discoveries in Bergen . We ’ ll explore the Bryggen , a picturesque area by the water famous for its brightly-colored wooden houses , and visit bustling Torget Fish Market . Later , we ’ ll ride the scenic Floibanen funicular to the top of Mount Floyen where we ’ ll get a bird ’ s eye view of Bergen and the fjords beyond .

DAY 7 • Bergen • Controversial Topic : Justice and the prision system in Norway
This moring , a local speaker will come onboard to talk about a Controversial Topic : divided attitudes toward Norway ’ s restorative justice system in the wake of the
terroist attacks in Oslo of July 22 , 2011 . Then , visit the nearby Edvard Grieg Museum . After lunch , you ’ ll have a few hours of independent exploration in Bergen before our ship sets sail for Alesund .

DAY 8 • Alesund • Geirangerfjord • Geiranger This morning , arrive in Alesund . Later , we ’ ll take a smaller ship and sail through the jewel of Norway ’ s fjords — the Geirangerfjorden — a UNESCO World Heritage site . Then this afternoon , disembark to explore the small village of Geiranger where we ’ ll visit
