Disembark on Elba , a UNESCO-protected island , Elba was once part of a larger stretch of land that connected Italy to Corsica . We ’ ll take a discovery walk of Portoferraio , the island ’ s main port . Then , sit down to an Italian meal during a Home-Hosted Lunch with a local island family .

Visit the Capoliveri mines , part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park . Here , we ’ ll explore a

On Day 11 , enjoy an Italian welcome during a Home-Hosted Lunch with a family on the Italian island of Elba , a UNESCOprotected island museum and venture underground to understand the significance of this historic site .

DAY 13 • Giglio Island Catch a brief ferry to Giglio Island , one of the seven islands that make up the Tuscan Archipelago National Park . After a discovery walk , depart for the village of Castello , perched on a hill overlooking the archipelago .

DAY 14 • Disembark ship • Rome • Anzio ’ s American Cemetery
Disembark our ship and transfer to Rome , making a stop in Anzio , an important World War II battle site . Here , visit the American Cemetery , site of an amphibious Allied landing that was part of Operation Shingle .

DAY 15 • Explore Rome Discover the “ Eternal City ,” and the myriad treasures it has amassed over more than two and a half millennia . Here , you ’ ll embark on a walking tour featuring many of the city ’ s highlights , from the Pantheon to the Spanish Steps . Then witness one of the most iconic fountains in the world , the Trevi Fountain , built in 1762 upon the site of an ancient Roman aqueduct . Later , explore Rome at your leisure .

DAY 16 • Rome • Optional Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel tour
Explore Rome on your own , or join our optional tour to discover the city ’ s most iconic , religious site : the Vatican and Sistine Chapel . Founded in 1506 , the Vatican Museum contains one of the finest art collections in the world . While you ’ re here , you ’ ll witness many of the priceless treasures commissioned by the church over centuries ago . After , embark on a guided tour of Saint Peter ’ s Basilica — a church built in the Renaissance style . Later , raise a glass with your fellow travelers during a Farewell Dinner .
