DAY 7 • Magdalenefjorden • Smeerenburg Cruise through Magdalenefjorden along Spitzbergen ’ s west coast . At a landing site on the Graveneset , see the remnants of 17th century whale hunting camps . Then , stop at Waggonwaybreen glacier before cruising into Smeerenburg , where we may see walrus . If waters are calm , board Zodiacs to explore the nearby beach .

DAY 8 • Sea ice fields Cruise by a vast expanse of sea ice , which may provide views of polar bears as they hunt for seals . Pass by the tiny island of Moffen , and watch for walruses that often haul out of the sea at its southern tip .

DAY 9 • Seven Islands • Storøya Visit the Seven Islands , far north of the Svalbard archipelago . Weather permitting , we ’ ll attempt Zodiac landings on some of the islands . Then , cruise to Storøya , where we might take Zodiacs along the coast to watch for walruses and polar bears , and possibly visit Kvitoya , Svalbard ’ s most remote outpost .

DAY 10 • Alkefjellet • Torellneset Embark on a Zodiac cruise to Alkefjellet , home to Brünnich ’ s guillemots , gulls , and kittiwakes . Later , land at Torellneset , a gathering spot for walrus . This evening , we may try to cruise to Austfonna to view Svalbard ’ s largest ice cap .

DAY 11 • Freemansundet • Kapp Waldburg
• Kapp Lee Cruise along the sound of Freemansundet to reach Storfjorden . If conditions allow , take Zodiacs to Kapp Waldburg , a nesting site for black-legged kittiwakes . Later , take a Zodiac to Kapp Lee , a famous walrus haul-out .

DAY 12 • Hornsund We reach Hornsund , a fjord on the southern tip of Spitsbergen known for calving glaciers . Later , we ’ ll attempt to take Zodiacs to some of the area ’ s 14 significant glaciers .

DAY 13 • Bellsund • Recherchefyorden • Camp Millar Cruise along Bellsund sound and land at Recherchefyorden to view remnants of its historic whaling and trapping legacy . Then , stop at Camp Millar , a former gold mining base now home to wildlife like the Svalbard reindeer .

DAY 14 • Longyearbyen • Disembark ship • Oslo Disembark your ship in Longyearbyen for our return flight to Oslo .
