DAY 7 • Antwerp • Chocolate tasting • Cathedral of our Lady • Conversation about Belgian colonialism Explore Antwerp , beginning with a stroll through its Old Town and famed diamond district . We ’ ll also taste one of its sweetest exports — chocolate — at a local shop , and visit the Cathedral of Our Lady , home to masterpieces by the Flemish master Peter Paul Rubens . This evening , we ’ ll learn about King Leopold II ’ s brutal administration of his Congo Free State colony in Africa .

DAY 8 • Amsterdam • Canal cruise • Conversation about the Dutch war on drugs Discover Amsterdam by boat during a canal cruise . After lunch , continue exploring this historic city on your own . DAY 9 • Explore Harlingen • Home- Hosted Visit Dock in Harlingen for a walking tour of this charming seaside harbor , ending at a small bakery to try a traditional Dutch pastry and spend time chatting with the owner / baker . Later , we ’ ll split into smaller groups and join local families for a Home-Hosted Visit .

DAY 10 • Kiel Passage , Germany • At sea Enjoy a leisurely day aboard the Clio as you cruise from the Wadden Sea to the Baltic Sea via the Kiel Canal .

DAY 11 • Explore Helsingborg , Sweden Spend today in Helsingborg , one of the oldest cities in Sweden . You might choose to join your Trip Experience Leader on an afternoon excursion across the Øresund ( sound ) to Helsingor , Denmark , to witness Kronborg Castle , which is believed to have inspired Elsinore Castle from Shakespeare ’ s Hamlet .

DAY 12 • Disembark ship • Copenhagen Disembark the ship and set off on a morning of discoveries in Copenhagen .
