DAY 8 • Akureyri • Burial Rites Monument • Herring Era Museum & Folksong Museum Witness the Burial Rites monument and hear the story of the last person to be executed in Iceland during a double beheading in 1830 , before traveling to Siglufjordur , a fishing village along the northern coast . Here , you ’ ll visit two museums : the Herring Era Museum and the Folk Music Centre . Then , travel to Akureyri , Iceland ’ s second-largest urban area .

DAY 9 • Hverabraud & Namafjall • Walking tour of Dimmuborgir • Godafoss Waterfall • Home-Hosted Dinner Discover the Lake Myvatn area , the pseudocrater field at Skutustadir , and the “ black castle ” lava formations of Dimmuborgir . Later , stop at a viewpoint overlooking the Námafjall geothermic area and Godafoss Waterfall before returning to Akureyri for a Home-Hosted Dinner .

DAY 10 • Dalvik • Whale-watching excursion Board a restored fishing vessel in Dalvik for a whale-watching excursion . Spot minke whales ,
