DAY 8 • Visit LKAB iron ore mine • Home-Hosted Dinner We ’ ll start the day with a tour of the LKAB iron ore mines , and learn about how the operation ’ s enormous output will require the town of Kiruna to be rebuilt in a new location two miles to the east . This evening , we ’ ll enjoy a Home-Hosted Dinner with a local family .

DAY 9 • Visit Nutti Sami Siida ( Sami cultural museum ) We ’ ll travel to the small town of Jukkasjarvi , where we ’ ll visit the Nutti Sami Siida open air museum , dedicated to preserving the culture and traditions of the indigenous Sami people . We ’ ll enjoy a reindeer experience when we meet a reindeer herd , and hear about their role in Sami culture from a local guide .

DAY 10 • Train ride to Narvik , Norway • Overland to Harstad We ’ ll embark upon a scenic rail journey across the Norwegian border to Narvik this morning , enjoying views of alpine peaks , deep blue fjords , and other Arctic scenery as we ride . After an included lunch in Narvik , we ’ ll drive by private motorcoach to Harstad and check in to our hotel .

DAY 11 • Horse farm visit This morning , we ’ ll visit a horse farm owned by a local psychologist who uses her livestock to help her patients treat mental health issues such as alcoholism and substance abuse . In the afternoon , you can choose to join your Trip Experience Leader for an elective walk along the coast to Trondenes

DAY 12 • Overland to Svolvaer We ’ ll transfer by private motorcoach to Svolvaer , a journey of about 4 hours including breaks .

DAY 13 • Svolvaer • Trollfjord cruise • Lofoten World War II Museum Discover the Lofoten Archipelago aboard a small boat that will weave through the islands and pass by snowcapped peaks and small fishing villages . DAY 14 • Explore Henningsvaer Visit the fishing village of Henningsvaer . Then , head to an old cod liver oil factory converted into a museum and restaurant , where a local expert will lead a conversation about the history of cod fishing in Lofoten , followed by a tasting and included lunch .
