DAY 7 • São Miguel Island , Azores • Transfer to Ponta Delgada • Lagoa das Sete Cidades 4x4 tour Today , we ’ ll fly to São Miguel , another island of the Azores . Upon arrival , we ’ ll transfer Ponta Delgada . After an orientation walk , we ’ ll board 4x4 vehicles for an exploration of Lagoa das Sete Cidades , a geologic complex nestled in the crater of a dormant volcano .

DAY 8 • Furnas Lake • Thermal water bath • Cozido das Furnas cooking demonstration • Tea plantation visit Today , visit São Miguel at Caldeiras da Lagoa das Furnas , a crater lake and series of volcanic springs . Later , witness cozido das Furnas , a traditional method of cooking using the steam of the Earth . Then , visit Gorreana Tea Plantation , the only one in Europe .

DAY 9 • Marine wildlife boating tour • Family farm visit with dinner Board a boat in search of sperm whales , dolphins , and other marine wildlife . Later , visit a small , family-owned dairy farm . While here , we ’ ll learn

DAY 10 • Madeira • Transfer to Funchal • City & wine tour Fly to Madeira , another autonomous Portuguese archipelago . Upon arrival , transfer to the capital , Funchal . Later , embark on a city tour , including a visit to some of the oldest wineries of Madeira .

DAY 11 • Funchal • Eastern Madeira ’ s Soaring Peaks & Island Traditions Optional Tour Today , you are free to explore Funchal as you wish . Alternatively , you may join our optional tour , where we ’ ll first learn about the traditional wicker work produced here for centuries . Then , venture to Santana to view its iconic thatched-roof houses . Afterward , explore Ribeiro Frio Park and enjoy views from Madeira ’ s third-tallest mountain , Pico do Arieiro .

DAY 12 • Levada walk • Visit local rum factory We ’ ll begin this morning with a walk along a levada , a man-made irrigation channel designed to support local agriculture . Afterwards , we ’ ll visit one of the oldest rum factories in the island .
