DAY 8 • Moron • Khovsgol Lake Today , fly to Moron , the administrative center of Khovsgol Province . Upon arrival , we ’ ll head to our ger camp along Khovsgol Lake , a pristine alpine lake some 100 miles long .

DAY 9 • Boat ride on Khovsgol Lake • Shaman visit • Horseback ride Begin the day with a boat ride — weather permitting — along Khovsgol Lake . Afterward , delve deeper into Mongolia ’ s spirituality by visiting a shaman in his home and participating in a shamanistic ritual . Later , we ’ ll take a horseback ride around the lake , followed by free time . Please note : The boat ride is not available on departures before mid-June due to weather conditions .

DAY 10 • A Day in the Life of modern Mongolia Today , we experience A Day in the Life of modern Mongolia . First , we ’ ll visit a yak-herding family on the Mongolian steppe , and then we may visit a local entrepreneur in the nearby town of Khatgal , where we ’ ll learn more about life in this remote area .

DAY 11 • Moron • Ulaanbaatar After breakfast , we drive back to Moron . Then we head to the airport for a flight to Ulaanbaatar . After checking into our hotel , we ’ ll have free time to make your own discoveries before dinner at a local restaurant .

DAY 12 • Ulaanbaatar • Kindergarten visit , a Grand Circle Foundation site • Home- Hosted Dinner Today , visit a local kindergarten supported by the Grand Circle Foundation where we ’ ll interact and play games with the children as well as speak with the staff . Then , we ’ ll visit the colorful stalls of Naran Tuul , the city ’ s bustling open-air market . This evening , a local family will invite us into their home for a traditional Home- Hosted Dinner .

DAY 13 • The Gobi Desert Today , we fly to the south Gobi Desert . Once we land , we enjoy lunch before continuing our drive through the stunning Gobi landscape .

DAY 14 • Gobi Desert • Camel ride • Flaming Cliffs While only about 5 % of the Gobi Desert is sand , we begin the day by exploring one of the few regions of the Gobi covered in dunes . Then , visit with a nomadic family engaged in the breeding of Bactrian camels . Afterwards , hop aboard one of the twin-humped beasts for a ride . Later , enjoy a hike through the Gobi Desert ’ s Flaming Cliffs .

DAY 15 • Yol Valley Today , explore Yol Valley ( also known as Vulture Valley ). We ’ ll travel across the Gobi Desert to the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains and enter this deep gorge in a Mongolian national park . We ’ ll visit a small museum where we ’ ll learn more about the
